2013 was a quiet year on the movie front for Amala Paul but she managed to keep the media interested.
Thalaivaa, her big ticket to stardom did not exactly set the box-office on fire and Amala earned herself the precarious tag of “choosy” as she was in the mood to sign all the films that came her way just for the sake of numbers.
But the pretty young girl has reasons to smile as back home in Kerala, she got critical acclaim and box-office success with Oru Indian Pranayakatha. The film released for Christmas, had Amala in an author backed role of Irene Gardner, a Canadian citizen of Malayali origin who comes to Kerala in search of her roots.
Amala who was holidaying with family in Rome came back to hear the happy news that she is 2013 Best Actress (Malayalam) in the prestigious Asianet and Vanitha awards happening in January.
2014 looks pretty promising as her bilingual Nimirnthu Nil and Velai Illa Pattadhari releases in Tamil and she will be signing few biggies soon. Well, one has to credit the girl who came from nowhere and in spite of not having any filmi connections or godfathers to survive and make it to the big league.
