The Pongal 2014 releases Vijay’s Jilla and Ajith’s Veeram has taken extraordinary opening worldwide. Early reports indicate that both films are hits. The final winner will be known only after Pongal holidays, as both are going full.
Jilla is doing record business in Kerala. The Vijay-Mohanlal combo entertainer has grossed Rs 2.61 Crore from the state on day one (Jan 10) of its release. It is the highest ever single day gross for the film in Kerala.
Jilla, after 10 minutes of trimming is being liked by the audiences. RB Chowdary, the producer of the film said: “I’m happy that the industry has got two hits for this Pongal. Jilla is doing very good business worldwide. It has become more racy after we trimmed 10 minutes of the film.”
Mohanlal who was not on taking terms with RB Chowdary over Keerthichakra (Malayalam film made by Chowdary with Jiiva & Mohanlal) issues and did not talk to him during making of Jilla, called up Chowdary from Dubai. He thanked the Jilla producer profusely for making the film such a big hit.
