Popular actor-choreographer-director Prabhu Deva and his estranged wife Ramalath aka Latha were granted mutual divorce by a family court in Chennai on Thursday.
The principal family court judge Raja Chockalingam granted a divorce to Prabhu Deva from his wife Ramlat after he executed whatever he had promised, according to Ramalath’s counsel P Anandhan.
Latha, who was also an actress till she got married, had filed a petition three months ago for restitution of conjugal rights.
Later Prabhu Deva and Latha filed the mutual petition submitting that all efforts taken by elders of both sides and mediators were in vain and they had agreed for mutual consent of divorce.
Prabhu Deva and Latha, who married in 1995, have been living separately since January 2008. In the course of their divorce proceedings, the couple was firm that there was no possibility of reconciliation.
